Removing cactus spines or splinters from a person's skin can be a somewhat painful and upsetting process. First, use tweezers to remove as many |spines| or splinters as possible. Then apply ordinary household glue (something like Elmer's Glue, but DEFINITELY NOT Krazy Glue!) to the skin with a cotton swab and top it with a single layer of gauze. After the glue has dried, remove the gauze with the glue. The |spines| or splinters should come with it. In a controlled study, this treatment worked better than any other method. This procedure could also possiblly work for the removal of briars.
